The BIG game is finally here and you are hosting the party!
For armchair quarterbacks everywhere, the Super Bowl is not just a game. It’s THE game.
And it’s one of the few times that – when it comes to sensible eating – all bets are off. Whether you tune in for the game, the halftime show, or the commercials, you won’t miss one minute of the action if you keep things simple with make-ahead dishes and easy buffets.
But before we get to the food let’s get your place ready with these easy decorating ideas.
- * Anchor your game day theme with a big football-shaped cake or dessert.
- * Get plenty of mylar balloons to decorate around your house or around the buffet table.
- * Stock plenty of football themed paper plates, napkins and cups.
- * Want to impress your friends? Order life-sized cardboard cutouts of your favorite football players and hero’s and set them up for photo ops.
- * As host you should wear black and white referee strips. Encourage your friends to dress in their team colors. And remember do not forget the whistle.
- * Does your invitation include kids? Set them up with their own viewing room. Provide kid-friendly snacks and beverages, and a stack of games and movies. If there are a couple of responsible teenagers in the group, pay them to keep an eye on the younger ones.
Now onto the important stuff … THE FOOD.
You are going to need plenty of snacks on hand to fuel your guests until kickoff.
Here’s a list of some good Pre-Game Appetizer recipes, with a Mediterranean twist, that are sure to impress your guests:

For the main event – besides the football game that is – here are some mouth watering recipes sure to satisfy all. The best part about these recipes is that they can all be prepared in advance and quickly reheated for serving.
