WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Peter Parthenis is the driving force behind Grecian Delight Foods. It was his friendly Mediterranean manner combined with his entrepreneurial spirit that drove the Gyros Sandwich trend into a national favorite fast food item. In 1971, as a graduate with a Masters in Engineering from the University of Illinois, Parthenis was challenged by the Chicago restaurant community to design an improved vertical broiler on which gyros cones could be cooked. His creation, the Autodonor®, led to the opening of Grecian Delight Foods in 1974. Grecian Delight remains a privately owned and operated company with a system-wide commitment to quality and customer service.

For almost 35 years now Grecian Delight Foods has been providing the foodservice and retail marketplace with high quality Mediterranean food products. Whether introducing gyros to non-commercial and non-traditional foodservice operators, developing new and innovative products, or working with customers to develop new and unique merchandising programs, Grecian Delight Foods prides itself on the ability to provide menu solutions to all customer segments.
